Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf used the Taylor Rule on social media to argue that a US interest rate hike cannot counter the economic impact of conflict-related disruptions at the Strait of Hormuz. His post came shortly before the US Federal Reserve announced a 25-basis-point rate increase, which it partly attributed to rising energy costs and geopolitical tensions.
