
The Joint Railway Trade Unions have decided to proceed with their planned two-day token strike on September 17 and 18, as no acceptable decision has been reached regarding the removal of the General Manager of Railways.

Sri Lankan authorities have postponed a decision on removing the Dumriya General Secretary, leading to a confirmed work stoppage on September 17 and 18. The Transport Minister met with United Dumriya Trade Union leaders to discuss the issue, citing lack of confidence in management and the need for more time to reach a final decision. The union warned that without a resolution, the stoppage will proceed as planned.
